Dealing with an Injury


Protection – Keep the injury from any further damage by recognizing all potential hazards ie. don’t do anything like what you did to injure it in the first place.
Rest – Recovery by rest is crucial toward healing an injury whether acute or chronic.
Ice – Used within 48 to 72 hours of an injury to reduce swelling. Apply for approx. 15-30 min. wait 30min. before applying again. Should be repeated 2-3 times daily.
Compression – Wrap the injury to keep the inflammation low.
Elevation – Also helps keep the inflammation at a lower level. If the injury also entailed bone PRICE still applies.

You can also help lower inflammation by taking anti-inflammatories or ibuprofen. Although painful rubbing the bruise firmly will help break up the blood coagulation and the bruise will heal much faster. Any other questions just ask.
